Useful tools should be simple to start and obvious to operate. Salient builds cloud appliances, Panoptic Scans, the Unsecured Public Storage API, and Splainly so a small team can put them to work without a long project.
Our Story
Salient Engineering was founded in 2018 by a small team of cloud infrastructure engineers. Mid-sized technology companies were hitting the same cloud problems as much larger firms, without the same budget or the same staff.
We had spent years watching those teams pay for tools that were larger than the job. We started building appliances they could launch, configure, and leave running: port forwarding, reverse SSH, and honeypots.
That same idea now covers more than appliances. Gemma and Qwen run as private models in your AWS account. Laya runs on AWS and Azure. Panoptic Scans runs hosted vulnerability scans. The Unsecured Public Storage API searches metadata for files already public in cloud object storage. Splainly turns a recording, screenshots, or a pitch into product video. We still help dozens of organizations, and we still keep the tools small.
